03/27/2010 - New Orleans, LA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Lightly raced Mission Impazible rallied down the stretch to capture Saturday's $750,000 Louisiana Derby at the Fair Grounds. The three-year-old is trained by Todd Pletcher, a four-time Eclipse Award winner.

The pace for the 1 1/8-mile race was set by A Little Warm who was ridden by David Cohen. Racing near the lead was 7-2 favorite Discreetly Mine who had won the Risen Star Stakes last month at the Fair Grounds. Also racing just behind the leader was Mission Impazible and The Program.

Around the final turn A Little Warm had a short lead over Discreetly Mine with Backtrack and Mission Impazible to the outside. Coming off the turn A Little Warm and Discreetly Mine were on the lead as Mission Impazible came driving down the middle of the track.

Mission Impazible, ridden by Rajiv Maragh, overtook the leaders in mid-stretch and went on to register a three-quarters length victory. A Little Warm held on to finish second in the 13 horse field with Drosselmeyer making a run for third.

Discreetly Mine was fourth followed by Stay Put, Ron the Greek, The Program, Mister Marti Gras, Fly Down, Wow Wow Wow, Hotep, Island Soul and Backtrack.

The time for the Louisiana Derby was 1:50.32 on a fast track.

Owned by Twin Creeks Racing Stable, Mission Impazible is one of several Kentucky Derby hopefuls trained by Pletcher. Next week Pletcher will enter Fountain of Youth winner Eskendereya in the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct. Dicreetly Mine is also trained by Pletcher who has never won the Run for the Roses.

Mission Impazible is now the winner of two of five lifetime starts. He picks up $450,000 with Saturday's win to bring his earnings to $512,754.

The gray colt was fourth to Conveyance in last month's Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Mission Impazible paid $16.20, $7.20 and $5.00. A Little Warm returned $8.60 and $5.80, and Drosselmeyer paid $4.20 to show.

The 2009 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds have been released and Denver Broncos' running back Knowshon Moreno has been made the opening favorite.

Bet NFL Sports Lines

Moreno was selected in the first round of April's NFL draft and is expected to carry the rushing load for the Broncos this season. And with Jay Cutler now in Chicago, Moreno might be expected to be Denver's entire offense.

Betting Lines from sports betting lines have made Moreno a 5/2 favorite to win this year's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Fellow running back Chris “Beanie” Wells (Arizona Cardinals) is right behind Moreno at 7/2, while Donald Brown (Indianapolis Colts) and receiver Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers) are 5/1 to win. Quarterbacks Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) and Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) are 7/1 and 8/1, respectively.

A couple of players who present some value are Josh Freeman, Shonn Green and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Freeman needs to beat out Byron Leftwich to become the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but if he does, he has a lot or raw talent and could use the weapons around him (i.e. Kellen Winslow Jr. and Antonio Bryant) to be very successful in his first season.

Green enters a crowded backfield in New York, but considering both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are unhappy about their contract situations and might holdout, the former Iowa product could become the Jets' primary back.

Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.

And if you're looking for a deep sleeper, check out Pat White at 30/1. He enters the Miami Dolphins vaunted “Wild Cat” offense and could be a big time playmaker.

It's less than a month until the NHL hockey betting season opens at MySportsbook.com and preparations are underway for another battle in the race to hoist Lord Stanley's mug in 2007.

As cup crazy fans prepare to place their bets, one online sportsbook ,MySportsbook.com, is offering hockey betting lines on the 2007/2007 Stanley Cup , who will bring it home this upcoming season.

Despite a poor showing in last season's playoffs and the loss of Steve Yzerman to retirement, the Detroit Red Wings are early favourites at this online sportsbook with wagering odds of 6-1. The Wings will look to offensive powerhouse Pavel Datsyuk and newly appointed captain Nicklas Lidstrom to lead one of the league's most prominent franchises.

Always a threat are the Ottawa Senators, with newly acquired goaltender Martin Gerber from the Stanley Cup champion ,Carolina Hurricanes. The Sens are second best in the rankings at a 7-1 bet, and odds makers at this sportsbook are optimistic that the Ottawa squad will fare better than last season's Eastern Conference semi-final upset to the Buffalo Sabres.

Also worth noting are the defending Stanley Cup champs Carolina Hurricanes, a 10-1 bet to repeat. Behind the Canes are the New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks all sit at 12-1.
